3rd D&W Awards

Hello & welcome back people to the 3rd D&W Awards I gotta say 2012 is very rough year for me I’ve been enslaved to my job, had a lot of family matters & so many life event choices & changes I have encountered through the past year I can’t say it’s been my worse or best I kinda have a mixed feelings about it but I can say that I have SURVIVED…….. I know it’s been a rough year on the blog too & I’m sorry for that & like I said to most of my readers it is unfair to me or the blog to have an outdated posts if you guys still asking if I’m coming back here again well I can’t tell I finish this award show. So as every year here is your categories:

The posts format (as every year) will be the winner and it picture in our posts and most of the awards judging based on my personal experience and by others so brace yourself if you excepting all my and only my posts her you’re not (^_^). Don’t worry every one of these category will have it separate so in my next post I will start with our first category so stay tuned (^_^).

 

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception

Finally our own version of Indiana Jones of the video game is back with unfortunately might be the final chapter of his great adventure it is the most anticipated PS3 game of the year & it sealed it with a glory so here you go my own review of Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception on (PS3).

The story begins with Nathan “Nate” Drake and Victor “Sully” Sullivan meeting with Talbot (in a pub in London), England. They negotiate a trade, a large sum of money in return for Sir Francis Drake’s ring. Nate and Sully accuse Talbot of offering them counterfeit bank notes and, after fighting their way past Talbot’s thugs, Nate and Sully emerge in an alleyway, where they are surrounded and subdued by Charlie Cutter, Talbot’s cohort. They are then approached by Talbot’s client, Katherine Marlowe, who steals Drake’s ring. Nate attempts to go after her, but Cutter guns him and Sully down, seemingly “killing” them.

As expected the story is the most amazing part of the game but of course that can’t be it from the story to the sound effect looks way stunning than the previous games in short it looks sooooo realistic I cannot believe to pushed this game to it limits I had so much fun playing this sequel.

As always what we love about the story is their characters the charm of Nathan Drake is spreads through anyone around him & Sully will throw good old geezer jokes Cutter is a very good entry for the series I never expected that but I started to like the guy & let’s not forget the girls though one of them doesn’t have much of a roll anymore bummer but hay they delivered us a really great content with fitting characters & wonderful vice acting.

Wow, Wow & Wow by far without getting far away this is the most amazing games of the series & for the PS3 exclusive or not truly I enjoyed a lot of games on the PS3 but this particular one is the best & I hope I see more games like it in the market soon truly if you haven’t played it yet then you’re missing a lot IGN.com gave it a perfect 10/10 yeah they don’t give that kind of number & I have to agree on my scale it is a 5/5 & still standing.

 

Infamous 2

I can’t believe myself how did I let this happened as you know I played this game way before even I played Catharine I thought I did a review on it but it seems I didn’t well I’m not well known as an unappreciated jerk for a great game such as this one especially when it got a D&W awards for it awesomeness so don’t hate me Play Station fans because I’m still a neutral gamer & I decided to give it a review even when it was too late so I present you Infamous 2 (PS3).

In the month following the events of Infamous, Cole prepares to face the Beast, an entity of untold power whose coming was foretold by Kessler. Cole and his friend Zeke meet with NSA agent Lucy Kuo who tells them she can lead them to Dr. Sebastian Wolfe, a scientist who worked on the development of the Ray Sphere which granted Cole his powers, and who claims he can make Cole even stronger. As they are about to leave, they are confronted by the Beast. Cole fights the Beast but proves to be no match and is severely weakened as a result. Cole, Zeke and Kuo escape to New Marais to find Wolfe while the Beast pursues them, destroying everything in its path.

So we have the game play well if I still remember it’s pretty much the same as the previous game nothing has changed much except for few new moves that really kick ass, new ways to fly, no punching just slay them & yes finally there is fairness when killing some enemies I remember in the previous game I swear a god these bullets can follow you everywhere (-_-) also there is more depth in the story so you can have an ever last great experience while playing. Visual effects are appealing & sound effect is fantastic though I think thre might be some delays with the SFX section but I’m sure it was minor.

The characters is a great mix for the story of the game though I think I miss Cole last voice but at least it get the job well done still not a fan of Zeke & Kou is a great addition for the cast plus this Nix chick though her method is twisted you will like her in the end & yes I am not the only one who noticed how the changed Cole into a whole new person & to be honest I like this new style of his.

So we reach the verdict…. Yeah that was fast sorry I couldn’t remember most of my experience with the game but this the best that I could remember of this great sequel & I’m hoping that I see a sequel for it in the near future I really enjoyed playing this game IGN.com gave it 9.0/10 7 I gave it a 4.3/5.

 

Batman Arkham City

The Dark Knight returns in a sequel for this great video game yeah believe it or not I am not a fan of any TV or Comic book video game because I know it will be suck… but when I played the first game after great reviews about it I wasn’t sure till they released the demo & it sealed the deal that’s right when made this game they wanted to make a game not some kind of rip off that nobody will play you can say that DC Comics & WB Studios means business I give the sequel of Arkham Asylum  in Batman Arkham City on (X360 & PS3).

At a press conference held by Bruce Wayne to declare his opposition to Arkham City, Wayne is arrested by Hugo Strange’s TYGER mercenaries and is himself imprisoned in Arkham City. Strange discloses his knowledge of Wayne’s dual identity as Batman before releasing him into the criminal populace. While Strange prepares for the commencement of Protocol 10, Wayne escapes from Penguin and obtains his crime-fighting equipment via airdrop by Alfred Pennyworth, allowing Wayne to become Batman. As Batman, he is first forced to save Catwoman from being executed by Two-Face who hopes to gain respect with her murder. After an assassination attempt on Catwoman by the Joker, Batman tracks the Clown Prince of Crime to his hideout in the Sionis Steelworks, believing he may know the truth behind Protocol 10.

 

As always the story depth looks pretty much the same as the previous one the game play well I have to say that they really took it to the next level I love going to discover new area when I do the side mission & I think this is my favorite feature in the game more challenging when you do The Riddler challenges but the combat view still pretty much the same I expected more into it & to fix the stupid “cut my combo & my counter move” seriously I feel totally unfair when I got fighting some baddies I mean I’m better than my older brother in fighting baddies but some time I get his frustration (-_-).

Moving on to the effects well as expected using the Unreal Engine the visuals looks Dark & Stunning yeah for most of us we got used to the safe side but let’s face it, it called Arkham City for a reason sound effects sounds great but maybe I hoped for more Hans Zimmer version & yes apparently I’m still hangover from The Dark Knight & Inception :b. overall the sounds effects need to be a little work on it then it will be perfect.

So Characters are up & we have a lot for the game from Catwoman, Two Face, Talia Al Ghul till Robin shame I was hoping to play as Robin but hey maybe I’ll download Nightwing DLC just for kicks I really got excited with Catwoman role in the game but not much as playing as Catwoman still my favorite character I have to say is Oracle yeah we don’t see her much but at least she can keep an eye to the big guy over here.

Batman Arkham City is a great game just like it processor was this time with a bigger world & more challenging side mission & the graphics of this game will always be this wonderful & stunning & it’s getting better IGN.com gave it 9.5/10 & I have to agree with my own of 4.7/5.

 

The Legend of Zelda: The Skyward Sword

In the last awards a few gamers classified me as an unfair person due I gave this game a D&W game of the year for this game in my head I’m saying to him [Are you freaking kidding me] yeah sure this not an HD game not on Play Station game (True Story – WTF) & it’s a on an unknown game console (Triple Mega WTF) seriously I was this close to smack these two  with a hammer if I told my Twitter buddy about it he will summon his dragon on them though he almost did with me because I didn’t say Skyrim but hey at least he understand why… never mind that sure for me I love Uncharted 3 & Portal 2 but my wait was completely worth it when this game is released Ask IGN.com they will agree with me because by far this game didn’t disappoint us like some games who has (The long development syndrome) enough talking & let’s start our engines with The Legend of Zelda: The Skyward Sword.

 

Skyward Sword is officially the earliest point in the Zelda Timeline, and elaborates on the origins of the Master Sword and Ganon. According to legend, after the creation of Hyrule, the Triforce was entrusted by the Golden Goddesses Din, Farore and Nayru to the goddess known as Hylia. However, the Demon King Demise gathered an army to take the Triforce for his own evil intent. Using her power to create the floating islands called Skyloft to keep the Hylians and the Triforce safe, Hylia and the remaining tribes—the Ancient Robots, the Parella, the Kikwis, the Gorons, and the Mogmas—battled Demise’s horde before the demon was defeated.

The story did sound like the beginning of time hasn’t it so after that we can move on to the game play & effects as the side of effects well…. It’s great but not so great because it’s not simply at least 720p HD sure the graphics looks more amazing but yeah what can you do by the far this is the best Wii images I ever experienced what improved is the sound effects that you can say its amazing. As for the game play it did change to the better it is still the same controls as we play in every Zelda game with remarkable experience still Link can’t jump but running, sword fight & new ways of throwing did gave me one hell of an experience just like the real deal & we all agree on this point truly one of the most amazing game plays I ever experience in my gaming history.

The characters yeah you saying why nobody has a voice but they still characters people & they can talk without it for the last 25 years what most unique & changed about that for the first time Zelda is not a princess a lot of question marks came in our heads but come to think of it this is a good change due in her role at the beginning of time is suitable. Then we have well as they say a “douche bag” bully named Brooks I don’t like bullies never did till I see an actual redemption but man this guy is funny every time he picks up on Link… Zelda comes & we see a completely different personality then we see the broken heart scene. We also have not fairy a weapon [It’s Soul Eater all over again] her name if Fi yep just Fi do not ask me the full name for some reason I was hoping to see similarities with Anime series Soul Eater but let’s face it it’s Zelda everyone is serious except the weirdoes which there are so many but one of the serious characters broke the rule The Demon Lord Ghirahim see even his name is weird looks really serious & evil plus one of the most twisted enemies I ever seen in The legend of Zelda series truly no comment just play the game & see what I exactly mean.

The Music we must talk about it yeah I was hoping for symphonies but they do have but not way better as it predecessor The Twilight Princess but it does have the most amazing clam & symphonies than it predecessor Fi theme has the most amazing tune I really loved it thank you Koji Kondo you still got it .

Finally I have to say I love Uncharted 3 but for me The Legend of Zelda: The Skyward Sword got the title of Game of The Year for our blog truly I loved this game & I do feel it’s an end of an era for Nintendo Wii though there is few more games left but truly this game I’s just Wow I used most of my best words in the beginning of the post haven’t I ;b & I’m saying this to you all if you Nintendo Wii alive & well in your living room I am telling you do not ignore this game IGN.com gave it a perfect 10/10 I Herby do the same as a perfect 5/5 (^_^).

Dissidia 012 Duodecim Final Fantasy

Not while ago I played this game when I bought my PSP & it is one of my favorite PSP game of all time now I heard that there is a new chapter for the game I was surprised at first due we need more lead role Final Fantasy characters but they kinda covered it with their popular one this time that game is back with it own fantastic addition which is to me became better than the first game so let me introduce you Dissidia 012 Duodecim Final Fantasy.

The divine conflict between harmony and discord rages on, the fate of the world its promised prize. Fighting to secure it are brave souls summoned for that solitary purpose. These warriors, relying on what fragments of their shattered memories remain, fight to end the conflict and for a chance to return home, to the worlds they each once knew.

Now let’s kick off with the gameplay Dissidia 012 is pretty much the same with the previous one but this time they added a few great features such as Assist, Assist Finisher, EX Revenge and such you can also have your own 5 man party members to play do not worry there is still single playing but let’s face it creating your own party members from all of your favorite Final Fantasy Characters it sounded pretty much awesome.

After the gameplay let’s move on to the effects first of the virtual got some really great improvement so I can match with the character design & some of their cool new outfits and let’s not forget the beautiful magical effects that comes with the series going on the sound SFX, BGM, Voice actors love them all but one small thing I do agree with a lot of people that they should’ve worked on the actual acting well as I heard from the English voices at least.

There are so many great characters to play in Dissidia 012 all of them are great but here is my most playable characters by a group of five that’s right you can say people this is my party

5th: Squall he had really incredible with small areas and has inescapable combos I really can count on him in most of my battles as expected from the ace military student of Final Fantasy VIII

4th: Yuna she’s new here & I thought I won’t use her much like I did with Terra because Yuna as all of you know is a summoner so most of it magic attacks well she really surprised me when she made a close & long ranged combat not fast as I expected but man she is really useful for my party as “Do not judge a book from it cover”

3rd: Cloud I don’t know why but there is something about Cloud always dras me to him oh maybe he has these powerful chase combos and an incredible strength and his chain BRV attacks with HP attacks wow you can call this a finisher.

2nd: Lightning as expected Lightning will be my first choice as many of some game players first you kick off with wonderful combos as Commando then turn into a Ravenger to give an amazing magic finisher then you can recover your BRV on Medic Paradigm Shift in this game is really tricky but not till you get used to it

1st: Zidane is always my first choice for winning every battle he is truly my trump card his land & aerial combos is addictive and once you put the right moves you already know how to play it & I’m telling you this & that my only opinion [not sure about yours] Zidane is my best & favorite characters in the Dissidia series I like this thief since I played him in Final Fantasy IX.

The Music is still the same as the first game but it got few new remixed tracks that will become really addictive to listen to it over & over again it’s been very well made to fit when you are on battle to spice things up more than usual.

They say they aren’t so many PSP games but when the first Dissidia was released there was hope after the second was released you can say this is it sure I do agree that they should’ve waited for the other Final Fantasy series characters such as Noctis from the new Final Fantasy XIII Verses [which is finally in development] and few great characters from XIII, VIII, IX, IV & V but I’m sure the next game will give us more satisfaction than ever I was hoping for a better & longer story but hey at least they got some awesome notes form the fans of the series IGN.com gave it a 9.0 but I give it 9.5.

 

Catherine

Well the theme of this game is a definitely not my type at all but I learned later that the creators of Persona games has made this one so I checked it out well due the theme is still the same but the story is totally different in fact it is one of the reasons why I loved playing it till I dropped literality I present you the strange world of Catherine on (PS3 & X360).

Vincent likes his girlfriend. Katherine’s pretty, smart, and successful. Trouble is, she’s starting to talk about long-term commitment, something Vincent’s spent his entire life avoiding. Since romantic complications are the last thing he wants to deal with, Vincent meets his friends for their regular night of drinks. Little does he know that he’s about to be blindsided by a beautiful, seductive, irresistible freight train named Catherine. Suddenly, he’s hung over in bed next to the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen, unsure about the previous night’s events. Was it just making out, he wonders, or did something more serious happen between them? Should he tell Katherine? Will he ever see Catherine again? Vincent’s about to find that a stumble on the staircase of love can turn into a horrific, fatal plummet.

Done with the story gone with the game play so you are wondering how to play it well it is a puzzle game all you need to do is pulling and pushing some blocks to make a stairway to go up wondering why because the floor is keep going down so you better hurry and calmly when you move to the top and there is alternative ending depends on your own right choices it is really fun game once you got hang of it after a few puzzles.

Finished form the game play it’s the graphics & effects and as you can see it looks amazing and really well done & correspondent with the Anime CG’s and when you go to the nightmare stage it getting more stunning than ever & let’s not forget about the sound they made it to be the perfect sync with it graphics I say it really made me think that I should climb faster I mean that is one heck of a puzzles (-_-).

So enjoyed the review so far well it’s time for it characters and here is the best of them

5th: Orlando Haddick he is the playboy in the group the reason he became like this because he got out of a broken marriage I have sympathy for him of course but he going into the wrong direction of life well at least he’s not a bad friend and you will enjoy his funny quotes that he got with him.

4th: Catherine the main story girl yep she spells it with a “C” & her type is totally not mine from her altitude and wardrobe she is definitely not that serious type but she has one hell of schemes that looks harmless & innocence just the way our poor Vincent fall to I believe she is no doubts about it the perfect character choice for this story.

3rd: Johnny Ariga an honorable man and still looking for his soul mate looks very familiar with a certain Persona character I know but that doesn’t matter he’s is a guy that you proudly can call him your friend always looks out for you no matter what.

2nd: Katherine McBride the other original Katherine & Vincent long time girlfriend she looks like anybody type but she is one hell of as scary girlfriend she is when she gets mad but as a girlfriend she might be the best girlfriend you will meet & let’s face it if she wasn’t like this we wouldn’t have a story right .

1st: Vincent Brooks yeah the main character the poor misfortunate main character that caught into this mysterious love triangle you can say he makes this story more enjoyable I mean his misfortune oh my god I really don’t want to be that guy and I sympathize with his situation obviously he really loves his girlfriend the that he climbs prove my theory I really enjoyed playing this character truly are.

As for the music of the game well as expected from our good friend Shoji Meguro the music theme of this game made it more and more exciting to play it to the last.

The final verdict for this game well I enjoyed it I mean I remember when I downloaded the demo I was so addicted to it and couldn’t wait to arrive on my mailbox from Amazon.com it by far one of the exciting puzzle game that I ever played & the main star of this game is it story everybody & I mean everybody enjoyed the story more than they enjoyed playing it, it’s was the whole reason why you have to come back to play this game again and again we usually play the game if we have one of these factors has met well both of them did & we love it IGN.com gave it 9.0/10 & couldn’t agree more (^_^).

 

Portal 2

So pretty much a lot of people didn’t see that coming especially how the first game was ended but let’s face it people this particular game was and still the best first shooter puzzle we ever played thank to the challenging puzzles and one character who made this game lovable and desirable for more I present you Portal 2 for (X360, PS3 & PC).

The highly anticipated sequel to 2007′s Game of the Year, Portal 2 is a hilariously mind-bending adventure that challenges you to use wits over weaponry in a funhouse of diabolical science. Using a highly experimental portal device, you’ll once again face off against a lethally inventive, power-mad A.I. named GLaDOS. And this time you won’t be alone. Meet an expanded cast of characters as you think your way through dangerous, never-before-seen areas of Aperture Laboratories. Break the laws of spatial physics in ways you never thought possible, with a wider variety of portal puzzles and an expansive story that spans a single player and co-operative game mode.

Got interested so let’s talk about the graphics and effects the graphics looks the same to me but more sharp yet simple & clean graphics as expected from current generation consoles I believe the game atmosphere became much better than the first game and don’t worry about the sound effect they didn’t neglect this feature at all.

Well I wanted to talk about the characters here but I have only two as I see but I think GLaDOS will be the star of this paragraph don’t you think we all fallen in love in her character sure we may put aside her mean killing us intents but hey pretty much she made the game more and more exciting than ever.

The music well there isn’t much but when you finish the game and listen to it in the cast and credit screen I’m sure you will become addicted to the song as I did so the rest of my buddies who played the game.

Finally I have to say Portal 2 might be one of the best games this year I enjoyed playing this game to the fullest and very recommend from you to buy the game if you played the old one as for the rest of you who didn’t played it maybe it’s better for you to play the first one if you could trust me you won’t regret if you played the first one and you will understand the hype that came from it… so the game is amazing and it got 9.6/10.
